Experts in infection prevention swapped advice and best practices last month when HAIs was the topic of discussion on Twitter. The chat covered many topics in the fight against the spread of infection in healthcare facilities and gave participants a chance to swap best practices.
Dozens of infection prevention experts took to Twitter last month to discuss the impact of HAIs and best practices to stop them in a specially-planned online chat.
Organised by Doctor Tom Frieden, director of the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), experts joined the discussion on the micro-blogging platform using #CDCChat.
The one-hour conversation covered all topics around HAIs including sharing insights in how to manage C.Diff and education for patients in how they can reduce the risk of contracting an infection.
Among the experts that took part were CDC representatives, Chief Medical Editor of ABC news Dr Richard Besser and dedicated US-based societies. EMEA was represented by Wim Schellekens, CBO of the Dutch Institute for Healthcare Improvement, who tweeted on the Netherlands’ record in infection prevention.
