in 45 minutes at 25°C.
- Does CIDEX Activated Dialdehyde Solution require activation
or mixing?
Yes. CIDEX Activated Dialdehyde Solution is packaged with an activating
chemical.
- How long does CIDEX Activated Dialdehyde Solution remain effective?
CIDEX Activated Dialdehyde Solution can be re-used up to 14 days. ASP
recommends testing for the minimum effective concentration (MEC) prior to
each use with CIDEX Solution Test Strips.
- How can I measure the minimum effective concentration (MEC) of CIDEX

- How effective is CIDEX Activated Dialdehyde Solution?
CIDEX Activated Dialdehyde Solution is effective in the presence of 2%
organic soil, and destroys all vegetative forms of bacteria including 100%
of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in 45 minutes at 25°C.
- What are the appropriate procedures for handling CIDEX Activated
Dialdehyde Solution during pregnancy?
According to the material
safety data sheet for the CIDEX Activated Dialdehyde Solution "several
developmental toxicity studies have demonstrated that at maternally nontoxic
doses, glutaraldehyde does not produce fetotoxic, embryotoxic or teratogenic
effects.”

- What times and temperatures does ASP recommend for tuberculocidal
efficacy with the CIDEX Family of Products?
The following times and temperatures are recommended:
• CIDEX OPA Solution: 5-minute soak time at a minimum of 25șC in an automatic
endoscope reprocessor* or 12-minute soak time at room temperature (20șC) for manual reprocessing.
• CIDEX PLUS 28 Day Solution: 20 minutes at 25°C
• CIDEX Activated Dialdehyde Solution: 45 minutes at 25°C
* When used or reused in a legally marketed automatic endoscope
reprocessor that can be set to a minimum of 25șC according to the directions
for use.
- Do I need to wear gloves when using CIDEX Activated Dialdehyde
Solution?
ASP has determined that several brands of gloves provide adequate protection
for working with CIDEX Activated Dialdehyde Solution for typical exposure

- What are the appropriate disposal and ventilation procedures for
CIDEX Activated Dialdehyde Solution?
CIDEX Activated Dialdehyde Solution can be discarded down hospital and
office drains in accordance with local regulations. Immediately dispose of
any glutaraldehyde-soiled rags or towels by rinsing with water and discarding
in a closed plastic bag. Please check disposal requirements with your local
agency.
ASP recommends that areas in which CIDEX Activated Dialdehyde Solution
is used be well ventilated. As with any chemical, a minimum of 10 air exchanges
per hour is recommended. For facilities using up to 3.4% glutaraldehyde
products, ASP recommends reducing the ceiling limit for glutaraldehyde vapors
